Talk to anyone who has been a Costco customer for a while, and you will hear how passionate their fans are. Don’t confuse Costco with similar big box warehouse clubs with 48 stick butter packs and a 20 gallon tub of cheese doodles. Costco focuses small businesses (not just retailers) on middle to high income households.
A few reasons why customers love Costco:
- Higher end, quality products at a fixed markup. No games, just the best stuff at great prices.
- Store brands – Kirkland store brands outperform most name brands at a fraction of the cost. Costco is launching a whole new line of organic and responsible products.
- Services – Most people may not take advantage of the services, but travel, insurance (even health), finance, HVAC, and car buying provide collective buying power to individuals and small companies.
- Fresh foods – You get a lot more for your money when buying fresh fruits, vegetables and meats.
- Seasonal items – No, not christmas trees in July. Costco rotates out their special items such as furniture, outdoors and holidays several times a year. You also have vendor specials with indoor deals where you get either a reduced price or with more accessories.
